Strategic projects
UEBT partners with companies to enhance sourcing practices around the world. Projects take place in sourcing landscapes, at sector level or in individual supply chains. In many collaborations we work with government or nonprofit partners as well as with many local organisations.
Examples
Some highlights of recent projects include:
Testing technologies for fairer due diligence - conducting pilots in several countries to test novel assessment approaches and data platforms to support local companies, farmers and wild collectors to respond to emerging due diligence requirements.
Supporting Biodiversity Action Plans - support for many companies on development and implementation of customised ingredient-specific action plans in various countries.
Sector transformation pathways in Africa - accelerating local transformation processes toward sourcing with respect in four nations by promoting improvement plans in selected biodiversity-based supply chains.
Botanicals payments for local livelihoods – designing and piloting an approach for extra payments to local producers when biodiversity actions for climate resilience are achieved.
Advancing ethical sourcing practices in sectors and countries – working with brands and/or international processing companies to support their suppliers in key sourcing landscapes on local development, biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.
Addressing risks in botanical supply chains – working with government authorities, local stakeholders, and private sector actors on assessing and addressing environmental and social risks in specific sectors and countries.
Other initiatives – Sector collaboration
UEBT also facilitates sector collaboration initiatives that operate on a pre-competitive basis and promote experience-sharing and joint action to address responsible sourcing risks.
