Guidance on UEBT Standard Principle 6: Minimum and living wages

Principle 6 of the UEBT standard promotes respect of human and workers’ rights and decent labour conditions along the supply chain. This includes requirements related to minimum and living wages for workers. Criterion 6.3 focuses on this topic.

The focus of this fact sheet is to support companies and organisations to make sure that at least a minimum wage (or wage agreed to via a collective bargaining agreement, whichever is higher) is paid to workers and that there is a clear strategy in place for reaching a living wage for workers.

It is part of a series of technical guidance documents, meant to support the implementation of key issues of the UEBT standard. It was developed with the support of the BioTrade facilitation programme, UNCTAD.  UEBT and UNCTAD acknowledge the financial contribution of the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO).
