Integrating botanicals into nature frameworks
The report examines how UEBT members and partners are using nature frameworks, and how these approaches can be strengthened, tailored, and complemented to reflect the specificities of botanical supply chains. Some conclusions may also be relevant for other natural ingredients and biodiversity-related topics. The findings draw on a literature review, a survey, company interviews, and ongoing UEBT work on botanical supply chains around the world. Based on these findings, this note offers practical suggestions for integrating botanicals into nature-related assessments and disclosures. It also highlights how a focus on botanical supply chains can support a more comprehensive and effective implementation of the GBF, focused not only on assessing and disclosing biodiversity-related risks, impacts and dependencies, but also on promoting positive impact.
